THE OPPORTUNITY
PYBAR is currently seeking an experienced and driven Safety, Health, Environment and Training (SHET) Manager to join our head office team. Ideally, the successful candidate will be based in our Orange, NSW office; however, consideration will also be given to candidates located in Perth, WA or other locations for the right person.
As a key member of the leadership team, you will play a critical role in influencing business-wide decisions and embedding health, safety and training strategies at both operational and strategic levels. You will work closely with operational and site leaders to uphold PYBAR’s core values while fostering a culture of proactive risk management and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and coordinate the health and safety management across all PYBAR projects
- Support strategic planning to identify and implement opportunities to improve health and safety performance
- Provide governance, oversight, and advice to the business on all aspects of health and safety performance.
- Develop, maintain and deliver PYBAR’s health and safety capabilities to existing and prospective clients
- Partner with site and operational leaders to ensure health and safety systems are effectively implemented
- Provide expert advice and guidance to line management to ensure all work processes align with company requirements, objectives, and relevant legislation across Australia
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of PYBAR’s audit program
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing SHET team, fostering capability uplift and professional growth across the function
- Drive behavioural change across the organisation, embedding a culture of accountability, ownership, and safety-first thinking
- Leverage data insights and digital tools (e.g. INX) to monitor trends, assess risks, and support proactive, evidence-based decision-making
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in a senior safety leadership role, ideally within the mining or heavy industry sector
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in safety, health, or environmental management
- Sound knowledge of underground mining operations
- Proven experience in managing workers compensation matters and injury management
- Comprehensive understanding of WHS/OH&S regulations and legislation across Australian jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated experience operating within ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001 compliant safety, environmental and quality systems.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities.
- Proven experience leading incident investigations, preferably using ICAM methodology.
- Experience using INX or similar safety management systems.
- The ability to travel to site locations as required.
